In a press release by Sony Pictures today, it was announced that ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ will be simultaneously released in IMAX 3D with the film’s worldwide release on July 3, 2012.
According to Rory Bruer, President of Worldwide Distribution of Sony Pictures Entertainment, “We couldn’t be more excited to be able to offer this extraordinary new Spider-Man adventure in IMAX. Marc Webb and the entire production team have been working tirelessly to deliver a 3D motion picture that will take the
Spider-Man experience to a whole new level. Audiences will literally feel like they are swinging through the streets of New York and that will only be accentuated when seen in IMAX.”
So what’s the big deal you ask? Well, while most movies are now shown in 3D (to give a visual experience of dimension) and in IMAX (for that feeling that you are inside the movie), the producers of ‘The Amazing Spiderman’ hope to give you the feeling that you are actually IN the movie fighting alongside our web hero with IMAX 3D. From the mixed review of the trailer, would this be enough to entice movie goers to see this film?
