Genre films continued to dominate the top 10 box office spots again this weekend. This included 10 genre films holding spots in the top 12 for the domestic box office.

‘Moon’ director Duncan Jones’ ‘Source Code’ did a respectable $15 million for the weekend to take second place to animated film ‘Hop’ crushing the competition by doing a surprising $38 million.

In its’ third weekend, action thriller ‘Limitless’ dropped to fifth with another strong showing for $9.4 million and bringing its domestic total to $55.6 million. Last week’s number two film, Zack Snyder’s ‘Sucker Punch’, dropped to seventh this weekend as the bad word-of-mouth surrounding the films incoherent plot took hold.

Sci-fi comedy ‘Paul’ fell to ninth taking in $4.3 million, while alien invasion film ‘Battle: Los Angeles’ took tenth place with $3.5 million.
