The Germany-based browser games developer and publisher Playa Games recently announced the launch of the open beta of its new browser game ‘Blood Game,’ a role-playing game featuring a sinister vampire setting. According to CEO Hannes Beuck, ‘BloodGame’ surpasses previous browser games with its revolutionary graphics quality and twisting story. With the launch of ‘Blood Game,’ the company expects to double the number of currently 10 million players to 20 million in the coming months.

Playa Games considers this the next generation of browser games. Designed entirely in 3D and featuring a sinister vampire setting, after more than a year of development, the game is almost finished. As if the battle between vampires and werewolves was not enough, bloodthirsty nocturnals fight for their share – and pleasure.

I admit I was more than curious about this game.  Although the battle between vampires and werewolves has been told over the course of countless years, I wanted to see what Playa Games’ interpretation was.  I accessed the game at http://www.bloodgame.de/ and because it’s not currently available in English I gave the German version a go.  I don’t speak German but I was able to decipher a few words here and there which helped me through the sign up process.

Once I got the very quick and easy registration process out of the way, I was able to see more of the game.  The graphics are stunning.  I was impressed that they were so superior considering it’s a browser-based game.  The images were crisp and clear, and the characters moved smoothly which I found impressive. The lighting was perfect and very realistic.  Playa Games spared no expense in the graphics department.

As for game play, that’s another story.  Unfortunately I couldn’t get very far in the actual game.  I was able to complete the first quest but couldn’t proceed past that due to the language barrier.  I’m definitely looking forward to the release of the English version of this game, though there’s no set date of release for it as of yet.  Once I get a chance to actually play and understand what I need to do in my quests, it will definitely be easier for me to make an assessment of this area.
