In the sleepy town of Smallville, big things are brewing.  The show’s currently on spring hiatus until April 15, so as we wait for it to start up again let’s take a little time to talk about where it’s been and where we think its heading.  This is the last season for Smallville after all, and hopefully by the time the finale rolls around we’ll be able to see Clark fully embrace his destiny.

So, what’s been happening lately?  The Vigilante Registration Act has been lifted, thanks to Clark’s mother (Senator Martha Kent).  Once that occurred, Oliver was no longer a fugitive and Clark and his other superhero friends are free to roam the streets without persecution.  Even so, he’s decided to don a disguise so he can walk around during the day without being mobbed.  With the help of a pair of glasses and a toned-down personality, his true identity as Clark Kent is now his disguise.  It seems like he’s one step closer to donning the cape and tights that goes along with fully becoming Superman.  Will he get a blessing from Jor’el before this occurs?  Will we actually get to see him in costume?  That remains to be seen.

As for his friends…so much has happened!  Chloe and Oliver are married.  Who would’ve imagined that?  They went from “friends with benefits” to falling head over heels in love with each other.  Is this enough to keep Chloe from running away again?  Hopefully.  It’s a shame that with the final season of Smallville in play, she was absent for much of it.

And Oliver now bears the mark on his head.  Not good, not good at all.  Will the Darkness overtake him?  Will the Green Arrow go bad?  It’s times like this where I wish The CW wasn’t so tight-lipped about what’s to come.  We’ll have to wait and see.  Maybe it’s not too late for Clark and the rest of his friends to save him.

We reported not too long ago that Michael Rosenbaum will be appearing in the final episode of Smallville.  That’s very intense news because as it is the younger version of Lex has befriended Clark.  Not only that, he also has the same powers of Clark thus making him more of a threat than ever before.  Of course Clark has to survive in the end, but imagine the carnage that’ll take place if he and the new super-charged Lex were to fight.  It seems inevitable but again, we’ll just have to wait and see.

So what happens next?  Will Clark embrace his destiny and learn to fly?  When will the wedding between him and Lois take place?  Will there be an epic battle between him and Lex?  Will Oliver recover from the mark he now bears?  Is Chloe finally going to stay in the picture?  I want to know as badly as you do.  Tune in on April 15 on The CW at 8 pm EST to find out what happens next in the lives of Clark and his friends.
