According to Deadline, Director Tim Burton’s adaptation of the 60s supernatural TV soap opera, ‘Dark Shadows’ has the rumor mill working overtime about new cast members.

‘Casino Royale’ Bond girl Eva Green (‘The Golden Compass’, ‘Camelot’) is said to be negotiating to play the role of Angelique. Originally played by actress Lara Parker, the role calls for a powerful witch who has a love-hate relationship with the series male lead character Barnabas Collins. Johnny Depp (‘Alice In Wonderland’, ‘Corpse Bride’) will play Collins.

Additionally, actor Jackie Earle Haley (‘Human Target’, ‘Watchmen’) is being considered for the part of Willie Loomis and Bella Heathcoate (‘Now’) for the part of Victoria Winters. The character of Loomis is a notorious con artist looking to swindle the Collins family matriarch, but is reduced to being Barnabas Collins’ servant. The Winters character is a young governess working at the Collins estate.

The original television series, which ran from 1966-1971, was a gothic soap opera about the wealthy Collins family of Collinsport, Maine and the strange happenings going on at their estate.
