‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Casts Anne Hathaway As Catwoman

Actress Anne Hathaway (‘Alice In Wonderland’, ‘Havok’) will star as ‘Catwoman’ opposite Christian Bale’s ‘Batman’ in the franchise’s next installment ,’The Dark Knight Rises’.

It was also revealed that Tom Hardy (‘Inception’, ‘Star Trek: Nemesis’), who joined the cast last fall, will play ‘Batman’ nemesis ‘Bane’.

“I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies,” said director Christopher Nolan.

Hathaway, who recently tested for the role, was pitted against a number of top actresses including Jessica Biel and Keira Knightley.

Production will start in May with shooting in Los Angeles and London. The movie is set for release July 20, 2012.
